Win Souls for God
Hope for Children in Ethiopia (HCE) helps extremely poor children and
children who are engaged in child labour with their different needs. They
should be able to improve their living conditions and to live a stable
life. This help includes financial and material support, medical help,
counselling services and education. HCE is working closely with Win Souls
for God Evangelical Ministries (WSG) who wants to help people in their
spiritual life. This cooperation helps HCE and WSG to work with people in a
holistic way.
Children in Ethiopia who come from poor families cannot afford good food. Cannot buy clothes. Live in dirty homes. They are not able to buy school uniforms and school materials and because of that cannot go to school. The children do not get the love and attention they deserve and there parents do not stimulate them enough to develop. They have bad confidence and are afraid of asking questions. Many children work very hard. They often choose to be silent and feel worthless. Think they are not allowed to take part in plays. People from poor families are more exposed to diseases like HIV/AIDS, TBC, and typhus.
The children are also in risk of ending up in the street. In the street, they will search every day for food. They will easy get sick. Every day will be a fight for survival. They will be exposed to prostitution, to rapings and to HIV/AIDS. It is difficult to help street people back into society.
Some children come from the countryside to work. Many boys are working as a weaver - under bad conditions the whole day. Girls often come to the city to save themselves from early marriages. They start to work and are often carrying wood from the forest. The heavy wood is very bad for their backs. In the forest they are also often sexually abused. The girls are in high risk of unwanted pregnancies and of HIV/AIDS. This children do not live in their own families. They don't go to school. The children are ashamed and often become violent.
